Carolijn Mariëlle Brouwer is a professional sailor

She won the International Sailing Federation highest award in 1998 the ISAF World Sailor of the Year Awards.

She originally competed for the Netherlands and showed potential from an early age winning the 1991 ISAF Youth World Championships and then competed in two Olympics for the Netherlands. However she competed for the Dutch in the 2008 Olympics after her quest for speed led her into the open Olympic multihul class the Tornado where she was one of very few female competitors.
